Myles's Final Post: As a Matter of Fact, I CAN Take it with Me

Myles dictated the following blog to me last week:

Arguing against what "they" say isn't usually a good starting point.  But in this case, it makes sense. "They" say you can't take it with you.  Usually referring to material possessions, the stuff we collect over a lifetime - cars, coins, whatever we find ourselves attracted to in life.  And it's true, at the end, those things don't matter.

What you can take with you are the lives you've touched.  The family you've raised, the reputation you've built for yourself as a person, not as a collector.

So I have much to bring with me, much to be proud of.

I have never met Myles or anyone in your family, however my friend and sorority sister Karen Appel Kaplan would post his blogs from time to time and I must admit I would look on my own. Your husband's words moved me beyond anything that I can ever express to you. He appreciated the MOST important things in life and for that you are one of the luckiest women in the world. I hope you take great comfort in knowing how deeply he touched me and I am sure so many more people with his words. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time....

  5. Myles we may not have possessions to take with us to our next journey, but I do know for certain I would like to have a friend like there to ease my transition. I am sorry this had to happen to such a great person. We may have only known each other in passing during our tenure at BHS, but I do respect you and I do want you to know you have touched my heart. May god find a special place for you to help people in need. Its not time to go now, stay strong and please remember that you are truly a terrific person.

I didn't know Myles very well but the times I worked with him on the Auction, he was so warm and kind and funny. I am so so sorry. Love Nancy Keenan
